As pet owners ourselves, we all know the inevitable shadow of thought that pets have short lives. We have 4 senior dogs. One is 13 and 3 are 12 years old. Luckily, I started early in terms of giving them only natural treats like cooked salmon and sardines. No commercial pet treats in any form. I can confidently say it contributed to their healthy dispositions considering how late they are in their life stages. But I wish they ate more vegetables and fruits. Like most pets, they just spit it out. So, we thought? What can we do to incorporate these healthy ingredients? How can we make it palatable?

It became a pilgrimage for us to research and educate ourselves in pet nutrition. We started with pet treats. We notice that most don't really utilize fresh vegetables and fresh fruits in their recipes. If they do, it's in extremely low amounts. Then, we found out that it was because of the "extraction process" that is used in the pet food industry - which requires extremely high heat like baking to form a kibble or any shape. It destroys most of its vitamins and minerals. It also requires a lot of fillers like powdered ingredients so the kibble or treat takes a shape when extracted. It's the same concept as baking. You need lots of flour for pastries to take a shape right? In the pet food industry, you end up with a low quality pet food or low quality pet treats that are not fresh or not natural for our pets.

It was a Eureka moment for us. Why not come up with treats that are made up of fresh blended vegetables and fruits to give their vital organs a little detox break and a boost of natural vitamins and minerals?

This is how BARE BONES was born. It took us a year of hundreds of failed recipes, failed processes and failed ratios after we finally discovered the perfect recipe and the right process to make healthy high quality pet treats. A treat with fresh blended vegetables and fruits without destroying the vitamins and minerals. It also does not crumble as much as like most freeze dried dog treats. Now, isn't that amazing?

This is not just a triumph for Bare Bones but a triumph for all of us pet owners. We hope that you join us in this journey to give our pets the best of what we can offer. We are in this together!
